Nashville in March
Comments:
Well this year is looking up considerably. I anticipate a great time on March 8 in Nashville as I hold in my hand tickets to your show (well I can't hold them in my hand and type but they're in front of me-lol) They're great seats in front of you and I'm so excited. Everything I've read about your first few shows this year has been incredible. It just always is when you're on stage. This will certainly get me through the winter doldrums (2 feet of snow on Christmas-maybe that's normal in Canada, but not Kentucky!)
It's gonna be a long 7 weeks!

LG Deep in the Heart of Texas

Comments:
This Yankee stuck deep in the heart of Texas just absolutely loved the Styx performance at Billy Bob's 1/8/05. What a great way to start the year.

Little did the Texans around me know what Tommy meant when he pointed and said, "A Criminal Mind" to Lawrence during the song, "Too Much Time on My Hands." If only they knew...

Still have my vinyl copy of "Strange Animal" and I would love have had you sign it, but I couldn't get close to the stage...hey Larry, save one of those Polaroids for a true Gowan fan next time you're in Fort Worth ;-) Thanks for keeping it real Larry. - A Strange Animal in Fort Worth, Texas.

Chilly Beach

Comments:
Oh yeah and to add to the previous entry. I was on the net (as always) and my daughter (13 yrs old) started channel surfing just out of total bordom and stumbled upon Chilly Beach. I happened to turn away from my computer to see what this new program she was watching was all about and don't I spot your name in the credits. We both kept watching to see who you were and I wanted to see if I could recognize your character by the voice. I had no idea they would have you as yourself. Then we turned it off after not finding you and I came to your website to see if there was mention of this charater. Luckily there was and the bonus was a picture of it. We've never heard of this cartoon before. We had no idea what it was. Once I found out which character was yours we turned it back just in time to see you do your thing. God even after all of these years you still make me melt every time you sing. Whaaa!!! I'm luvin' it.

Comments:
I have a picture of LG and I at a 1986 concert at the Sanderson Center in Brantford Ontario Canada. Can I submit that to the webmaster for posting and how do I go about doing this? I am so glad Gowan merged with Styx. Now 2 of my all time favorite artists are together as one. That is so cool. Also some friends and I are thinking about putting together a benifit concert for the tsunami relief efforts with all procceeds going to the Red Cross. Would Styx be interested in being a part of this if we generate massive media attention and can get other groups to join in the fundraising efforts? I can be contacted at 613 774 6271 or the above email. Please let me know. Thanx Terresa

Lawrence - Hi! Hope you are doing well. So much has changed in the last 5 years. Thank you for Cyclorama, I found it was helpful in my everyday life. I heard its message loud and clear. Everything has changed. I thought you would like to know.

Incidently, "Prima Donna" is only a song from the Phantom of the Opera. Thus the clasped hands - It goes, "Prima Donna - your song shall live again"...and it does every time you sing "Criminal Mind" in Ottawa! Listen to the words and maybe you'll understand why I would sing that to my fave. A prima donna is a lead singer, yes, no? Maybe the wrong gender. Ooops.

Everything is alright genki desu ka. Peace.

Comments:
Happy New Year to You and Yours first of all, and second, not to insult you if it does, but the first time I "met" you was at the John McDermott concert in Toronto on Dec. 22. I really like McDermott, but the tone was very mellow and all of a sudden you can JUMPING out on stage, joking, making us laugh. I sat up in my seat, and it's like you made my toes curl! I sat there so excited to hear a voice soo AMAZING! I put you on my christmas list but the closest I got were some CDS :) God Bless the wonderful talent you posess and all the best in the new year.

Gowan: Just had to let you know how much I LOVE your "I Am the Walrus"! To me, it surpasses the Beatles original by far!
I have been a STYX fan since age 13, and I am now (gasp!) 40. I immediately was taken by your stage presence and awesome musical prowess the first time I saw you with STYX in WI in 2002. I was fortunate enough to "meet and greet" you and the guys in WI Dells in August of this past year as an early birthday gift from my husband of 19 years. Although the time was short, I enjoyed meeting you and you continue to be an inspiration to my 9 year old daughter who is an aspiring pianist.
Much love and admiration to a genuinely wonderful, caring person!

Hi there Stars In Eyes (hoping you know what I mean)

This is "Little Face" (also hoping you understand, haha) saying thank you for the Christmas note on this site and for your endless energy in giving to your fans. You are just beyond amazing. I hope your holiday (short though it may be) is wonderful and for 2005 I wish you great joy, abundant success and everything good on your plate of life (meatless, of course, lol). I was going to wish you lots of love but I don't think there's any lack of that directed toward you. I am just in awe of your kindness, thoughtfulness, selflessness and how sweet you are to everyone even when I'm sure you don't always feel like it. You are an extraordinary man in every way, talent-wise, personality-wise and without a doubt physically. Just awesome. I have great respect for you and your family and I truly hope that you are happy all the way to your heart because I can think of few people who deserve it more. I think 2005 is going to be a great year for you and the guys and I hope to see you more than once in that time period. 2004 was incredible for me being front row at 3 shows-beyond my wildest expectations and meeting you once out of those three shows. Maybe in 2005 I'll be able to get more than 10 words out in speaking to you (my own ineptness, no one else's). Be safe and warm and know that you are cared for more than you can imagine.
Kentucky hugs,

A Christmas Surprise!

Comments:
I was lucky enough to be at John McDermott's Christmas shows at Roy Thomson this past Wednesday. John, as ever, was wonderful but the best surprise was when he introduced Larry! Larry came bounding out in his Mountie coat and was just superb! He performed John Lennon's Happy Christmas and his own, Ring the Bells carol. What a wonderful Christmas present for the audience! By the way, Larry, did John return your "Strange Animal" Juno to you? He was looking VERY cozy with his cuddled in his loooong arms. : )

Thanks for a great surprise! Wishing you and all your loved ones a truly wonderful holiday season.

Mr. Gowan is one strange puppy.

Comments:
Hi, I am a postmodernist film maker from Victoria, BC (strange bay). Recently I obtained a copy of the video strange animal. Wow, Mr. Gowan has really impressed me in this video. He is an iconoclast, a postmodernist as well as dam good actor. Mr. Gowan's energy and strange facial expressions are quintessential to this 'oscar' performance.

When watching the video, combined with the lyrics, I realised that postmodernism is omnipresent. The questioning of truth, docile bodies theory, power relations, state control over it's subjects, deconstruction and so on.... Furthermore, Mr. Gowan did this when postmodernism was just starting to develope. Hats off.

May this very strange animal carry on his critique of modern society by disseminating more counter-public sphere.

I finally watched "I am the Walrus" on this website and it was cool. Larry sang the song just like way the Beatles did. The song brought back memories from the past when the Beatles were FAB. Larry couldn't have done a better job than this, I must say. The band, Styx, did right in hiring Lawrence into the band. Rock on, Larry and have a Merry Christmas to you and yours. Marlene, Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year too.

I remember meeting Gowan in Halifax, Nova Scotia a few years back at the attic and then at the University in Bedford. His music is untouchable and his style is totally unbeatable. It was nice to hear that he did a tour with Styx, wish I could of seen one of the concerts. Nice to see that Gowan is still out in the world of music for the music Gowan puts out is touching.

Just wanted to say this and Wish Lawrence Gowan and all of the Fans as well as his Manager a Great Holiday Season!

Styx's Live Walrus Recording to Debut on iTunes; Styx's Version of ``

Styx's version of the classic Beatles song "I Am The Walrus"

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 17, 2004--Styx's version of the
classic Beatles song "I Am The Walrus" has hit the Top Ten on the
Mediabase Classic Rock chart within two weeks of the song's (date)
release. The single will debut to consumers worldwide exclusively
through Apple's iTunes Music Store beginning December 7.

When Styx was invited to participate in Eric Clapton's Crossroads
benefit earlier this year, they changed up their set to include blues
songs, such as their newly recorded version of their hit "Blue Collar
Man," as well as "I Am The Walrus." The audience response to the
Styx-
styled version was overwhelming, leading to the group's decision to
include the single as a staple to their set lists at future shows.

"After attending our Chicago homecoming performance at Vic Theater
back in August, WLUP Program Director Greg Solk requested a live
recording of Walrus to play on the air," said James "JY"
Young. "There was definitely a groundswell happening with the song.
We love playing it on stage, and the audience loves it."

Tommy Shaw added, "Just as we thought our year was winding down, we
find ourselves in full response mode as this rocking track keeps
climbing up the charts. Jim Ladd told JY and me, 'You guys captured
lightning in a bottle...' Frankly we're pleasantly stunned by how
little we've had to do with its success at radio."

Styx recorded the song on September 11th in Lincoln City, Oregon and
it aired on WLUP on October 8th, followed by a West Coast debut
broadcast by radio host Jim Ladd on KLOS. In just three weeks, the
song is being played on more than 120 stations. Apart from WLUP and
KLOS, the single has been added at KQRS in Minneapolis, WFBQ in
Indianapolis, KSAN in San Francisco, KDBN in Dallas, WKLS in Atlanta,
WNCX in Cleveland, KISM in Seattle, KKLZ in Las Vegas, WARW in
Washington, D.C., KIHT in St. Louis, WMFO in Boston, WEGR in Memphis,
and WONE in Akron, to name a few.

The song debuted at #24 on the Mediabase Classic Rock chart and
jumped to #10 a week later. The band is putting finishing touches on
a video for the song that includes a cameo by Billy Bob Thornton.
